Putin Calls CAR President Touadera to Congratulate Him on Third Term

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin Archange Touadera on his re-election for a third term in last month’s vote and discussed future bilateral cooperation during a phone call, according to a Kremlin statement on Wednesday.

Putin praised Touadera’s “landslide” victory in the Dec. 28 presidential election and extended his best wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the people of the CAR.

“The CAR President, for his part, thanked the Russian leader for his multifaceted support in strengthening the country's sovereignty and security,” the statement said.

The leaders also reviewed current issues in political, trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening friendly bilateral relations.
